John Albert Sasek, 88, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday April 11, 2023, in St Luke’s Hospital. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday April 18, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at noon until service time. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Betty Sasek; their children, Glen Sasek Sr of Fayetteville, N.C., Rick Sasek of Austin, Texas, Ken Sky of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Sheila King of Anchorage, Alaska, Suzanne Sasek of Fayetteville, N.C., Kevin Marble of Columbus, Ohio, Sherie Marble of Clarksville, Ind., and Howard Marble of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his brothers, Keith Sasek of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Jerry Sasek of Tyler, Texas. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 11 1/2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Toni Sasek; and his brother, Norman Sasek.

John was born Oct. 25, 1934, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Anthony and Bernice (Keefer) Sasek. He married Betty J. Allison on Valentines Day in 1985 in Cedar Rapids. John retired from A.D.M. after 34 years. He served in the U.S. Army for the National Guard. He was a member of the Teamster Local 238 and the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Cedar Rapids, where he was very active in the church school.
