Joyce Ester Jandik, 89, of Eagan, Minn., passed away on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Lexington Point Senior Living in Eagan. Vigil service will begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. Visitation will follow from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 14, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion, with burial to follow at St. Johns Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Joyce was born on Dec. 5, 1933, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Clifford and Thelma (Bean) Sampica. She was a graduate of Marion High School. On Sept. 15, 1956, Joyce was united in marriage to Leonard Jandik at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. She worked for the Department of Transportation as a driver’s license clerk and as a cook for St. Joseph School. Joyce was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church for over 60 years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Joyce is survived and lovingly remembered by her son, Dennis D. (Sandra) Jandik of Apple Valley, Minn.; grandchildren, Gregory T. Jandik of Apple Valley, Sarah A. (Matthew) Hiniker of Roberts, Wis., and Andrew M. (Taylor) Jandik of Lakeville, Minn.; great-grandchildren, Landyn Jo Jandik and Lawson Anne Jandik; and sister, Doris (Lloyd) Bulman of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Leonard in 2018; and brother, Clifford Sampica Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Joyce’s memory may be directed to Kidneeds in care of the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation.
