Janice A Wilson, 93, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Oaknoll Retirement home with her daughter by her side.
She was born to Howard and Jeanne Comstock in Chicago, Ill., on July 12, 1929, and on June 21, 1952, married Herbert A Wilson, her most beloved dance and life partner. Janice Attended Elmhurst College in Illinois and was a graduate of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and spent many Sundays with her family at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Iowa City.
Janice served on the Board of the Visiting Nurse Association, Riverside Theatre, and as a Deacon and Elder at First Presbyterian. She was a member of Athens Historical Society, Hancher Guild, P.E.O. Chapter JF, and the Iowa City AM Rotary Club. Her favorite activities included being with family, reading, handwork, attending events at Hancher and Riverside Theatre, traveling with Herb and volunteering at the University of Iowa Hospital.
Survivors include her sons, Charles (Phyllis) of Simi Valley, Calif., Steve (Mirja) of Port Angeles, Wash., and Keith (Sandy) of Iowa City; daughter, Amy (Dave) Nicholson of Iowa City; grandchildren, Jennifer Urano of Sunnyvale, Calif., Dan (Abbey) Wilson of Simi Valley, Calif., Kris (Gita) Wilson of University Place, Wash., Lara Wilson of Seattle, Wash., Kirby (Travis) Kost of Omaha, Neb., Chas (Lindsey) Wilson of Bennington, Neb., Casey Hupp of Omaha Neb., Kyle (Molly) Nicholson of North Liberty, Iowa, and Emily Nicholson of Iowa City, Iowa; and 15 great-grandchildren. Others surviving Janice include a special cousin, Caryl Druley, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Canan (Reyes) Tapia and son Umut of North Liberty.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Herbert; her parents, Jeanne and Howard Comstock; and granddaughter, Tonya Nicholson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, where there will be a time of visitation from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. before the services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hancher Auditorium, Riverside Theatre or a worthy cause of your choosing.
