Susan Kathleen Snyder Severide, 77, passed away the night of April 6, 2023, with her loving partner Bill Groeltz at her side. Visitation with family will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Born Sept. 19, 1945, in Coralville, Iowa, Susan's family moved to Cedar Rapids in 1948, where she graduated from Washington High School, Class of ‘63.
Then, as for the rest of her days, she was known as "Susie Sunshine" for her caring, sparkling and positive personality. Susan had a quick wit, endless creativity, love of games and good music. She was especially skilled at homemade original poetry and handmade cards.
She spent her career as a graphic arts professional but her most treasured accomplishment was the unconditional love she freely shared with her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and countless friends.
Susan will be long remembered and missed by her survivors: daughters, Cheryl, Julie (Terry) and Amy; grandchildren, Jack and Sam, Ashton and Jennifer, Rosalie and Jacob; her partner, Bill Groeltz and his daughters, Amy (Martin) and Jennifer (Tony) and their children; dear brother, Larry (Jeanne); and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
