Christopher “Chris” Lee Hatch, 57, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 14, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, Iowa. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Central City, with Father Sean Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Blodgett Cemetery in Central City.
Chris was born on Oct. 8, 1965, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Bill and Judy (Heins) Hatch. He was a graduate of Marion High School. Chris owned and operated the R&R Convenience Store in Central City for many years. On May 11, 2019, Chris was united in marriage to Sara R. Wiggins in Cedar Rapids. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and cars. Chris will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Chris is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Sara; two sons, William (Danielle) Hatch of Central City and Clayton Hatch of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Victoria (Kristopher) Peyton of Coggon, Iowa, and Allie (Devan) Theodore of Cedar Falls; three stepchildren, Joseph (Alyssa) Scott of San Antonio, Texas, Jaiden Wiggins and Ella Wiggins, both of Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Don (Darla) Hatch of Cedar Rapids and Dale (Denise) Hatch of Central City; one sister, Paula Hooper of Marion; and father, Bill Hatch of Lehigh, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
