Doris “Jean” Grimm, 74, of Marion, Iowa was ushered into Heaven on March 29, 2023.
Jean was born to George and Velma (Fanning) Lawrance on Sept. 25, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Linn-Mar High School in Marion in 1966, earned her RN from Tacoma General in 1970, and worked at St. Luke's Hospital. She and Norman Grimm were high school sweethearts and they celebrated 54 years of marriage last year. She loved and was so proud of her son and daughter and adored her grandkids. She was a gifted quilting artist who created beautiful pieces for family and friends, loved visiting quilt shops and enjoyed sharing time together with other quilters.
She will be greatly missed by those surviving: her husband, Norm; their son, Jason (Rachel) Grimm; two grandchildren; and daughter, Molly (Chris) Schoblocher; her brother, Bill (Elisa) Lawrance; her sisters, Jan Spencer, Judy Hull, Kathy Lawrance and Debbie Mullen; along with nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, brothers-in-law and great-nephew.
We are grateful to her care teams at PCI and UnityPoint. And while we grieve, we do so with great hope and the knowledge that we will see her again.
Jean will be honored in a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 15, at New Covenant Bible Church, 3090 N. Center Point Rd., Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Interment will follow at a later date.
Memorials may be sent to No Longer Bound in Cumming, Ga.; or Days for Girls via New Covenant Bible Church.
