John Albert "Cookie" Schupanitz, 95, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023, at Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon in Lisbon, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. April 28, at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church in Festina, Iowa, with lunch at The Zipper following the service.
John was born on Aug. 7, 1927, in Festina, the son of Hugo and Catherine (Etteldorf) Schupanitz. After serving honorably during World War Il in the U.S. Navy, he graduated from Loras College. John worked for Nabisco Sales, until his retirement. He was a 75-year member of the American Legion. In addition to living in Dubuque, John spent many happy years in Marion and Boscobel, Wis. John will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his children, Paul (Liz) Schupanitz of Plymouth, Minn., Pete (Deb) Schupanitz of Littleton, Colo., Joe Schupanitz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Matt (Cathy) Schupanitz of Littleton, Colo., and Luke Schupanitz of Littleton, Colo.; grandchildren, Nate, Andrew, Mitch, Sarah and Sarah; and great-grandchild, Jace.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Brandon.
Memorials in John's name may be directed to American Legion Post 298 in Marion, Iowa.
