Janet Rae Sion, 84, of Marion, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital. As per her wishes, private family services will be held at a later date. Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling Street SW, is caring for the family.
Janet was born Jan. 16, 1939, in Monticello, the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Eilers) Tuetken. She worked at Bob Zimmerman Ford, Helzberg Diamonds, and was a co-owner of The Dug Out and Bob’s Hide Away with her husband Bob Sion. She enjoyed knitting hats, baking cookies, bowling, celebrating Christmas, tending to her dogs and cat, and most of all spending time with her family. Janet had a zest for life and was well known for her witty sense of humor.
Janet was survived by her children Sue (Bob) McCue, Amy (Gary) Price and Robert (Alanna) Sion; stepson Mike (Paula) Sion; grandchildren Matt (Karen) McCue, Mike McCue (Jen), Jessica (Matt) Rohwedder, Brian (Jessie) Price, Nile (Christine) Price, Samuel Sion, Samantha Sion and Charlie Sion; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Robert Sion; her siblings Shirley Hearn and Phillip Tuetken; and her nephew Mark Hearn.
Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Humane Society in her name.
