Blanche Ann Volesky, 94, of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, April 3, 2023, at Hiawatha Care Center. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2023, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Celebration of Life services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2023, at Brosh Chapel. Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery.
Blanche was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Oxford, the daughter of William and Mary (Netolicky) Novak. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Volesky on Oct. 14, 1947, in North Liberty. Together they farmed together in Cedar Rapids area. She enjoyed raising a large garden and chickens, quilting, weaving rugs on a loom, tending to her house cats, and most of all spending time with her family, especially the many grandchildren.
Blanche is survived by her children Vernon Volesky, Raymond (Paula) Volesky, Ron (Mary) Volesky and Jane (Duane) Walter; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; daughter-in-law Debbie Volesky; as well as her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Clarence Volesky, her granddaughter Michelle Walter, her brothers William (Irene) Novak and Louis (Ulana) Novak, her sister Leona (Ray) Westemeier, brothers-in-law John (Adeline) Volesky and Marvin (Margie) Volesky, and sisters-in-law Evelyn Thuerauf and Eleanor (Dale) Hegland.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
