Joshua “Josh” Daniel Vega, 41, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023, at his family home in Clarence, Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at the Marion American Legion Post, 625 31st St., in Marion.
Josh was born on May 13, 1981, the son of Javier Vega and Rebecca and Michael Merritt. He was a talented bass fisherman, dry wall finisher and loved his smoker. Josh’s favorite teams were the Chicago Bulls, Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns. He was a kind, gentle and private person, and loved everyone very easily. Josh worked for Maw and Paw Construction, then Stull Construction for 20 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Josh is survived and lovingly remembered by his parents, Javier Vega, Rebecca (Michael) Merritt; siblings, Lil’ J, Jamie and Jacob; children, Hannah, Sierra, Leah and Tytus; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vega and Beam; and older brother.
In lieu of flowers, may be directed to the Bass Club of Iowa.
