Elizabeth “Sally” Meyer, 101, of Clarence, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Clarence Nursing Home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday April 1, at St. John’s United Church of Christ fireside room in Clarence, with the Rev. Matt Schneider-Adams officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Sally was born Aug. 16, 1921, in Lucas County, Iowa, to Howard and Myrtle Fuller Tacker. She was married to Orville Meyer in 1940 (died in 1969) and in July of 1977 to Richard Meyer (died in 2003).
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Rowell of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughter, Constance Kahl of Cedar Rapids; granddaughters, Erica and Stacey Meyer; three step-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sandra Meyer of Clarence; and many nieces and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; brother, Marvin; sister, Phyllis Wendt; son, Douglas; and stepson, Lewis Meyer.
Sally enjoyed watching the Cubs, wintering in Mesa, Ariz., going to the casino and playing bingo. Sally graduated with the class of 1938 from Clarence High School. She worked for Claney’s grocery store in her earlier years along with being a secretary for Dr. Utley and the Clarence Coop.
