Dallas Owen Zimmerman was born July 28, 1957, in Corydon, Iowa, the son of Carol F and Betty (McKee) Zimmerman. He attended English Valleys schools and graduated in 1975. Dallas moved to the Cedar Rapids area and attended Kirkwood College. He worked at the Linn County Conservation Board and Amana Refrigeration. Dallas was an active member of the Jung’s Tae Kwon Do Academy and earned a black belt in 1985. Dallas was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church. Dallas passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Compass Memorial Hospital in Marengo at the age of 65 years.
Dallas is survived by his wife, Lisa; two sons, Nathan and Brandon; a sister, Cheryl Hall; brother, Don (Sandi) Zimmerman; father and mother-in-law, Merlen and Mary Laska; brother and sisters-in-law, Daris and Sheryl Rawson, and Kevin and Stephanie Laska; as well as many nephew and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carol and Betty; and a brother-in-law, James F Hall.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, 202,3 at Powell Funeral Home in North English. Burial will be in the North English Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A general memorial fund has been established. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
