Kevin Allsup, 62, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Lisbon, died on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at St. Luke’s Living Center West. A Celebration of Life will take place at 1 p.m. Friday, March 17, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon. Celebrant will be Dawn Stephens. Burial will follow at Lisbon Cemetery.
Survivors include his parents; siblings, Sharon Hartley and Preston (Tina) Allsup; nieces and nephews, Heather Hartley, Kelly Hartley, Micah (Jessica) Hartley, Brian (Anna Lockling) Allsup and Megan Allsup; and several aunts and uncles.
Kevin Dwayne was born Sept. 22, 1961, to Albert and Jean (Sproston) Allsup. He graduated from Lisbon High School, with the class of 1980. Kevin went to work at his father’s business, Iowa Unit Masonry, in Lisbon as a brick layer as a young man. He was later employed at Frontier Co-Op in Norway, bottling spices.
He loved music of all genres and being out of doors most of all. Kevin was a fan of Iowa sports, especially Iowa Football, the Miami Dolphins and the Chicago Cubs. You could find him enjoying Indycar and NASCAR racing whenever possible.
Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert Allsup Sr., Susan (Hajostek) Allsup, Harry Sproston and Hazel (Schneider) Sproston; uncles, Robert Sproston, Jimmy Sproston and Kenny Sproston; and aunts, Helen Schneider and Marylou Danly.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
