Delbert Clair Bray, 70, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, March 12, 2023, at the Iowa City VA Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 4 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the funeral home.
Delbert was born January 21, 1953, in Charles City, Iowa, the son of Charles and Margaret (Christensen) Bray. He graduated from Charles City High School. Delbert served honorably in the United States Army from 1973-79. He worked as welder for IMT in Garner, Iowa, and then made fishing tackle with his cousin Ricky Drury for Bob Urbin at Stickum Bait Company in Guttenberg, Iowa. Delbert was united in marriage to Debra Irene Deason on April 21, 2007, at New Creation United Methodist Church. He was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Bray; sons, Shannon Bray, Lucas Bray, and Caden Bray; daughters, Sarah Beltz, Amanda (Rocky) Sloan, and Bailey Bray; grandchildren, Jordan Miller, Tyler Beltz, Justin Sloan, Devin Sloan, Danessa Townsend, Nellie Sparks, Marisa Sloan, Christopher Bray, Kayla Bray, Keaton Bray, Abby Seifert, and Emily Seifert; great-granddaughters, Annie, Karee, and Saphiyah; siblings, Darrell (Joyce) Bray, David (Beverly) Bray, Dorla Ferch, and Dawn (Mike) Ouellette.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret Bray; great-grandson, Zayne Miller; and brother, Donald Bray.
