Anthony “Tony” Driscoll, 70, of Omaha, Neb., passed away Sunday, Feb. 26, 2023, at Lakeside Hospital due to a lengthy illness. Private burial to take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Tony was born Oct. 25, 1952, in Iowa City, the son of Patricia and Joseph Driscoll Sr. He grew up in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Kennedy High School in 1970. He attended the University of Iowa.
Tony was married to Julee DeGroff in 1977. They had two children, Leslie and Brandon.
Tony recently retired from University of Nebraska IT Department.
Tony especially enjoyed time with his family. He was a huge fan of college football and followed the Nebraska Cornhusker and Iowa Hawkeye football teams. He liked playing cards (especially a good game of euchre), visiting casinos and deep-sea fishing. He was especially gifted with being funny and making people laugh.
Tony is survived by his wife, Julee; son, Brandon; granddaughter, Taryn; great-granddaughter Ravyn; sister, Doreen Shellady (Patrick); brothers, Jerry Driscoll, Steven (Patricia) Driscoll and Joseph W. Driscoll Jr.; brother-in-law, Rick Hanson; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Leslie Driscoll; sister, Lori Hanson; infant sister, Shelley; brother-in-law, Scott Goslin; and sister-in-law Luann Driscoll.
