CEDAR RAPIDS -- On June 15, 2021, Jan Jackson, 61, Melissa Jackson, 68, and their daughter Sabrina Jackson, 19, were shot in their northeast Cedar Rapids home. Their son Alexander Jackson, 22, was convicted of their murders in 2023.
Jackson claimed a masked intruder had broken into the Jackson family home and killed his parents and sister before shooting him in the foot during a physical altercation. Jackson called 911 and police arrived to find Jan in the lower level with five gunshot wounds, Melissa in the master bedroom with three gunshot wounds, and Sabrina in her lower level bedroom with two gunshot wounds.
Police found no signs of forced entry or burglary, according to testimony.
Jackson will serve three consecutive life sentences. Chief Judge Lars Andersen order Jackson to pay $150,000 in restitution to estates or heirs of Jan, Melissa and Sabrina Jackson.
