IOWA CITY — A 12-0 run in the final 2:20 of the first half propelled the Iowa men’s basketball team to a 92-75 win over Ohio State Thursday at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Four different Hawkeyes made 3-pointers in the run, which turned a 36-35 OSU lead into a 47-36 Iowa advantage. Connor McCaffery made the first of those four 3s, then assisted on the others, by Payton Sandfort, Kris Murray and Tony Perkins.
McCaffery had a career-high 13 assists without a turnover. He leads the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio.
Iowa improved to 9-6 in the Big Ten, tied for third place. The Hawkeyes, winners of their last seven home games, are 17-9 overall. Ohio State, loser of seven straight games, is 3-12, 11-15.
It was the most points the Buckeyes have allowed this season. They beat Iowa 93-77 last month in Columbus.
Perkins led Iowa with 24 points. Murray had 20. Three of their teammates scored at least 10 points.
The Hawkeyes resume play Sunday at Northwestern, which is alone in second place at 10-5. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
