Three more people have been arrested in relation to a shots-fired incident that happened in Cedar Rapids in December, according to a news release from the Cedar Rapids Police Department.
Jakariana Johnson, 19, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Tuesday, and Gabriel States, 18, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested Wednesday. Both were charged with accessory after the fact, and released under the supervision of the Department of Corrections.
A juvenile, who is not named in the release, also has been charged in relation to the incident.
Last week, Jesse Scott, 19, and Jaden Hodges, 19, both of Cedar Rapids, were arrested. Hodges was charged with accessory after the fact and also released under the supervision of the Department of Corrections. Scott was charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon and accessory after the fact and is being held on a $20,000 cash or surety bond.
The shooting happened Dec. 2. According to criminal complaints, Scott was driving a red car in which the others were all passengers. The car was spotted outside a house at 392 18th St. SE, where surveillance video showed an individual matching Scott’s description and clothing firing at the house several times.
The car then drove away, and was stopped by police within minutes, the complaint states. A gun found under the passenger seat of the car was later found to match the bullets found at the house. All of the people in the car denied knowing anything about the shooting and refused to cooperate with officers.
