Ruby E. Waters MacGowan, 98, of Iowa City, formerly of West Liberty, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2023, at Legacy Gardens in Iowa City.
Ruby was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of Grover and Effie (Strong) Fountain. Following high school, she married Lysle Waters. Following his death, she was united in marriage to Howard MacGowan.
Her family includes her daughter, Cindy Huff; granddaughter, Christy Meyer (John) and great-grandson, Quintin Meyer; sister, Joyce Snyder; and several nieces and nephews. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lysle Waters and Howard MacGowan; sons, Terry Waters, Roger Waters and David Waters Meyer; son-in-law, Rick Huff; and 11 siblings.
