Janice Ruth Bennett, 74, of Mechanicsville, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2023, following a sudden illness.
A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date.
Survivors include her son, Brent Askelson of Marion; stepdaughters, Deb (Petur) Bennett Jonsson of Akranes, Iceland, and Sherry Karg of White Bear Township, Minn.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Richard Bennett (2017).
Janice Ruth Casteel was born Aug. 11, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Gerald and Nellie (Rudolph) Casteel. On Oct. 30, 1987, she married Richard Bennett in Postville, Iowa. Janice worked for the State of Iowa Department of Motor Vehicles for many years.
