Bonnie Lea Sund, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died on Jan. 26, 2023. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a future date.
Bonnie was born Sept. 7, 1943, in Jamestown, N.D., the daughter of Edward and Florence Kehl. Bonnie married Melvin Sund on Jan. 18, 1963, in Jamestown, N.D. They just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Bonnie loved nothing more than caring for her family and for others. Her favorite days were having her three boys, her daughters-in-law, and grandchildren all together. Known for her gift of gab, Bonnie relished time when visiting with friends and family. She also loved playing cards with cousins Vernon and Joan, and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Melvin; children, Terry (Diane) Sund of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gene (Kim) Sund of Arlington, Tenn., and Troy (Tracy) of Prior Lake, Minn.; grandchildren; Jarin, Lara (Anthony), Michael (Lorena), Lauren, Austin, Calvin, and Colton; and great-grandchildren, Kole, Landon, Maya, Bennett, Arilyn, Evangeline, and Bella Jade. Bonnie was preceded in death by her grandson, Shaun; as well as her very special, lifelong friends, Hal and Sharon Arntzen.
