Kevin Neal Heckmann, 58, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following a courageous battle with cancer.
A private family celebration of Kevin’s life will be held in the spring. A memorial fund has been established.
Kevin was born on Nov. 14, 1964, in Oelwein, the son of Neal Edward and Karen (Kobriger) Heckmann. He graduated from Oelwein High School with the Class of 1983. He was united in marriage to Lynn Rand on June 13, 1992, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Kevin worked in Steel Fabrication for most of his working life. He was employed by Highway Equipment and later at ESP. He was a devoted family man, spending time with family was his greatest joy. His goal was to live to see his granddaughter, who was born on Dec. 27.
Survivors include his devoted wife, Lynn; their four children, Autumn (Trenton) Schipper of Evansdale, Spring Heckmann of Cedar Rapids, Shania (Eric) Woods of Palo and Kevin Heckmann II of Shellsburg; and two grandchildren, Owen and Charlotte.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and two grandchildren.
