Mikey Ryan won the only match between ranked wrestlers, helping Mount Vernon beat Clear Creek Amana, 49-24, in a boys’ wrestling dual Thursday at Mount Vernon. The Mustangs’ girls’ wrestling team completed the sweep with a 48-18 dual win over the Clippers.

Brad Smith is the most accomplished coach in Iowa high school history. After guiding Lisbon and Iowa City High to 19 total state team titles and 37 wrestlers to 64 state titles, Smith has decided to retire, bringing an end to his Hall of Fame career that began with the 1978-79 season.
