Robert J. O’Brien, 77, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at the West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids, on Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom on Monday, Jan. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial mass will be held at St. Jude Catholic Church on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 10 a.m. with Father Nick March presiding.
Robert was born on May 7, 1945, in Cresco, Iowa. He was the son of the late William and Edvina (Lickteig) O’Brien. On May 10, 1969, Robert married the love of his life, Jean Schulte in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Those left to cherish his memory is his wife Jean O’Brien, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his children, John (Tracy) O’Brien of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Kori (Luke) Minor- Nidey, of Iowa City, Iowa; his grandchildren, Jacob, Katelyn, Simon and Kaylee; and his siblings, Mary Jackson of Rockwood, Ontario, Canada, and Wayne O’Brien of West Union, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Raymond and Ronald O’Brien.
In lieu of flowers, do something nice for a stranger.
The family wishes to thank the entire staff at the West Ridge Care Center for the love and support they showed Robert while he was in their care.
