Amy Janene Brown, 61, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial Service: 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 8, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet everyone immediately following the service at a reception in The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood.
Amy was born March 6, 1961, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Richard Arlen Wise and Joan Angeline Rimrodt. She attended Jefferson High School. Amy was a dedicated hard worker in the service industry for over 40 years. Most of that time she worked at The Breakfast House and The Olive Tree Restaurant. Amy loved what she did, and it seemed all who met her ended up becoming friends and regulars. She had many hobbies which included gardening, coin collecting, and taking care of and feeding the neighborhood cats. She had a love of music and a huge heart. Amy dearly loved her own cats, Sonny and Woody. More than anything, Amy loved to spend time with her family. Holidays were always the best with her sons, Jeremy and Nick, along with her granddaughter, Arlee. There will never be another like her. She was the best mom, grandmother, and sister. Amy will be missed by all. We love you.
Survivors include her sons, Jeremy (Tracy) Brown and Nick Brown, all of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Rod (Mary) Wise of Mt. Vernon, Iowa, Mike Wise of Sacramento, Calif., Tim Wise of Cedar Rapids, Wendy (Kevin) Belt of Cedar Rapids, and Doug (Candy) Wise of Glendale, Ariz.; granddaughter, Arlee Brown of Cedar Rapids; step-mother, Nancy Wise; and step-brothers, James Strachota of Dacono, Colo., Lee Markwell of Cedar Rapids and David (Malia) Markwell of Odenton, Md.
Amy was preceded in death by her parents Richard (Artie) Wise and Joan Angeline Markwell.
