Mark W. Meyer, 74, of Stanwood, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at Lantern Park Care Center in Coralville.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2023, at Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence, with pastor Ron Lashmit officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will be at the Stanwood Cemetery with military honors.
Mark was born Dec. 27, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Kenneth and Kathleen Thompson Meyer.
Survivors include his sons, Phillip of Marion and Jason (Katherine) of Shorewood, Ill.; grandchildren, Drew, Zach, Landon, Kinley and Nash; brother, Kent of Coralville; and sister, Joan (Tom) Hanna of Anamosa.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mark served his country in Vietnam with the Marines and was very proud of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a diesel mechanic that truly enjoyed socializing at the local “watering hole.” He was a quiet man that liked to read and enjoyed his grandkids. He also was proud of beating lung cancer in previous years along with many other medical hurdles.
