Thomas ignores the benefits of immigration

Quoting Cal Thomas: “If you like cream in your coffee …. Keep pouring after you have reached what you would normally drink. If you pour the cream long enough it will replace the coffee.” Isn’t that what happened starting in the 16th century, when Europeans sailed across the Atlantic and started moving into North America, pushing the true Native Americans out?
Quoting again, “If the administration continues to do nothing while claiming the border is ‘secure’, what will America become in five years, 10 years, or the next century?” My answer: A more diverse, stronger, yet kinder and gentler nation.
Anyone who does not understand the role of immigrants in the growth and prosperity of our nation doesn’t deserve space on The Gazette editorial page. Everyone living in Iowa should trace their ancestry back and then ask themselves: What if my ancestors hadn’t been allowed to enter — where would I be today?
