Marsha Frances Long, 84, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2022, of complications related to Alzheimer’s Disease.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Solon. Father Charles Fladung will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Church, where the rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Burial will be at St. Bridget’s Cemetery. The Mass will be livestreamed on the Church Facebook at www.solonstmary.org.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Iowa Alzheimer’s Association or the St. Bridget’s Foundation.
Marsha was born May 11, 1938, in Lamont, Iowa, the daughter of Loney and Mary (Hilby) Allen. On June 22, 1963, Marsha married Richard “Dick” Long.
Marsha graduated from Lamont High School and from Paris Academy of Beauty Culture. Most of her career was with ACT.
Marsha enjoyed the outdoors and was an amazing master gardener. She was a gifted baker and seamstress who often made her children’s clothes. Marsha loved horses, which she would often show. She was an excellent rider.
Most important to Marsha was her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to St. Croix Hospice for the care they provided.
Marsha is survived by her husband, Richard “Dick” and their children, Mari Long (Blake Carlson), Mark Long, and Kim Long (Patrick Donley); four grandchildren, Rylan, Miles, Clio, and Juniper; her brother, Lynn (Rosemary) Allen and sister-in-law, Maryannette Allen; numerous nieces and nephews.
Marsha was preceded by her parents and six siblings, Evelyn (Kenneth), Mary (Cecil), Joyce (Donald), Robert (Dorothy), Beryl, and Melvin (Virginia).
