Energy proposal a welcome one

I appreciate the recent guest opinion regarding allowing certain energy users more flexibility in how they purchase their electricity.
Just like with anything, when competition is introduced, it makes the product better, more efficient and more transparent to the public. If there will still be oversight by the Iowa Utilities Board, it makes sense that lawmakers would allow large energy users the chance to drive down their costs. In turn, this will help attract new manufacturing business to Iowa and level the playing field between our state and our neighbors, without handing out any tax breaks or taxpayer funded incentives.
I applaud the American Free Enterprise Chamber’s proposal and hope the legislature considers it in the next session.
