W.J. (Bill) Schultz, 89, died at University Hospital in Iowa City on Dec. 13, 2022.
He was born June 11, 1933, in Dorchester, Iowa, to Wilford H. and Mabel (Vaughn) Schultz. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War in 1953. He owned and operated Buffalo Oil in Coggon and FECO, Inc. in Oelwein, retiring in 1996.
Surviving him is his wife, Elaine; children, Sherry (Mike) Tells of Chandler, Ariz., Greg (Sue) Schultz of Chandler, Ariz. and Robert Schultz of Chandler, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jessica Tells, Jason Tells and CG Schultz, all of Chandler, Ariz.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary (Pat) Casey of Cedar Rapids, Dorene Krapfl of Marion, Bev (Phil) Boots of Mechanicsville, Mark (Janey) Krapfl of Hiawatha, Bill (Becky) Krapfl of Anamosa, Dan (Jill) Krapfl of Coggon, Ann Krapfl of Marion and Patty Krapfl of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Michelle Krapfl of Ely; and many extended family members.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, June Spores; brother, Ivol Vaughn; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wilfred Krapfl and Alice Baty; and brother-in-law, Bob Krapfl.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the First Baptist Church, 31 First Ave. NE, in Oelwein, at 11 a.m. Dec. 19, with visitation one hour before, officiated by Pastor Dave Byrd.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or Oelwein Kitchen Cupboard.
Burial at a later date in Coggon, Iowa.
