Michael L. Haars, 72, of Cedar Falls, fomerly of Center Point, passed away at Allen Hospital in Waterloo on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022, after long term kidney failure. He was born on May 22, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Herman (Dick) and Ilene Haars. He lived in Center Point, Iowa until joining the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from Kirkwood Community College with an associate's degree in accounting. Michael served in the Air Force and was stationed in California, Germany and Guam. He enjoyed being around people. He recently moved back to Iowa from Tennessee to be near family.
He is survived by stepdaughters, Kimberly (Everett) Henes and Jennifer (David) Brown; sister, Linda (Cole) Southworth; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Haars; and mother, Ilene Richter Haars.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at the Urbana Community Center in Urbana, Iowa. It will be officiated by Everett Henes (son-in-law). No burial at this time.
