John Michael Rodemeyer, 64, of Des Moines, passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at Teahen Funeral Home by Penny Ackerman. Burial: St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday after 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
John is survived by his son, Lucas (Joy) Nielsen of Cedar Rapids; brother, Mark Rodemeyer of Cedar Rapids; sister, Rona (William) Wyant of Marengo; grandsons, Paxton Nielsen and Austin Price; aunts, Wanda Brandt Rowray of Cedar Rapids and Judy Anderson of Hampton; uncle, Mike Rodemeyer of Newton; and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Leona Rodemeyer; and sister-in-law, Leslie Rodemeyer.
John was born on Nov. 11, 1958, in Des Moines, the son of Ronald and Leona (Brandt) Rodemeyer. He attended Taft Junior High and in 1977, graduated from Jefferson High School. John worked at the Wells Fargo Arena and as the greens keeper for Blank Golf Course in Des Moines.
John enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and golfing. He was a genuine people person, and would do anything for anyone. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Memorials may be directed to the family for donation to the Whitehouse Alano Club in Des Moines.
