Saucy Foccacia owner closes all restaurants

CEDAR RAPIDS — A locally-owned burger staple has closed all of its locations after nearly 10 years in business, including a newer expansion into breakfast.
“After 10 years, we are devastated to announce the closure of our restaurants Saucy Focaccia and The Breakfast Bar,” owner Paul Andreasen said in a statement. “Operating costs, in addition to the downturn in the economy, forced this decision. Our business was a family venture and so deeply impacts all of us.”
Andreasen thanked employees and loyal customers for their support over the years. The restaurants’ last day was Dec. 4.
Saucy Focaccia opened in 2013 as a food truck before moving into NewBo City Market in 2014. In 2016, Saucy Focaccia moved into 5100 Fountains Dr. NE.
The burger restaurant later expanded with a second location near Westdale Town Center on Edgewood Road SW.
In June 2021, the brand expanded into breakfast with The Breakfast Bar in Hiawatha, where it served a full menu in its dining room and offered a limited menu of sandwiches through its drive thru.
