Dorothy A. Ransom, 92, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Dec. 11, 2022, at the Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. Visitation: 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Mass of Christian Burial: 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Dorothy was born on March 21, 1930, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Frank and Hattie (Rake) Ryan. She was united in marriage to Sherill Ransom on Nov. 26, 1955, in Madison, Wis. Dorothy was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She was very dedicated to her boys. Dorothy enjoyed being outdoors. She was an avid hiker and also enjoyed bicycling and running.
Survivors include her husband, Sherill of Cedar Rapids; sons, Michael (Karen) Ransom of Windsor, Colo., Scott Ransom of Cedar Rapids, Shawn (Leigh) Ransom of Marion and Todd Ransom of Cedar Rapids, seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and siblings, David Ryan of Madison, Wis.; and Sister Clarita Ryan of Manitowoc, Wis.
Preceding her in death were her parents; brother, Robert Ryan; daughter-in-law, Kelly Ransom; and sister-in-law, Eileen Ryan.
Memorials may be directed to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.
