Emma Marie Adams, 82, of Hamilton, Ill., the Lord called her home on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022. A visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Entombment: Linwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids.
Emma was born Nov. 15, 1940, the daughter of George and Jennie (Whitson) Attwood. She worked as a hostess for Catfish Bend Casino until her retirement in August 2006. Emma was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club #2272, Hamilton Senior Center, and Golden Point Church. She loved frogs, quilting, and crocheting. Emma always had a home-cooked meal and a hot cup of coffee ready, a listening ear, and a shoulder to cry on. Emma captured memories through her photos.
Survivors include her children, Donna (Mark) Twomey, Dawn Siemering (Danny Griffioen), Kristine (Paul) Abodeely, and Dan Van Deusen (Serena Ridinger); loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Beverly (Edwin) McVay; and many stepchildren who called her mom. Emma left behind many loving friends and neighbors wherever she lived.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Jennie Attwood; husband, Daniel H. Adams; and brothers, Leonard “Red” Henderson, Ray, Tommy, and Dale Attwood.
