Fire in Shellsburg leaves police chief's home damaged

The Shellsburg police chief may be without a home following a fire that spread from his garage to his house early Wednesday night.
The fire was reported around 5:45 p.m. at the home of Shellsburg police chief Marty Evans, 105 Oak St. SW. Authorities believe the fire started in the garage and quickly spread to the house. Though three people were home at the time of the fire, no one was injured.
Several fire departments responded to the call, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Evans has been with the city of Shellsburg since 1997.
