Joan Marie (Kasallis) Cimaglia, passed away at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa, on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
A visitation will be held at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home on Friday, December 9, 2022, from 4 to 7 p.m., and also from 9 a.m. to Mass time at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with Father Jon Seda presiding. Interment to follow at the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery-Garden of Tranquility.
Joan was born on May 6, 1934, in Chicago, Ill. She was the daughter of the late, Edward and Amelia (Dombroski) Kasallis. On Feb. 15, 1958, Joan married the love of her life, Gerald Cimaglia, in Chicago. She was a lifelong member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. She was a member of the Creative Artists, PEO, Iowa National Watercolor Society and was a volunteer for the Mercy Auxiliary. Joan’s greatest joy was going out to eat, “my treat,” and spending time with her family.
Those left to cherish Joan’s memory are her children, David (Jennifer) Cimaglia, of Ely, Iowa, Donald (Connie) Cimaglia, of Anamosa, Iowa, and Donna (Gregory) Scharf, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Kenneth (Joanne) Kasallis of Texas, and Gregory (Evlynne) Kasallis of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; her parents; and her brother, Matthew Kasallis.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House for all the love and support they showed to Joan while she was in their care.
