Melvin W. Swanson, 77, of Muscatine, Iowa, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at Hope Creek Nursing and Rehab. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of 14 years; children, Bryan (Jodie) Howard, Leigh Swanson and Melanie Swanson, including stepchildren, Vikki (Rodney) Kula, Robby (Stacy) Bartosh and Todd (Jessica) Bartosh; grandchildren, Alexa, Bradley, Aaron, Logan, Julia, Madeline, Henry, Christian, Chelsey, Elijah, Javen, Phoenix, Savannah, Sean, Addison, Dawson and Shelby Ann; and one great-granddaughter; along with his best friend, Rose.
Melvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Marie Swanson, of 25 years; and his parents.
Melvin Swanson was born Oct. 11, 1945, to parents Charles and Eva Swanson in Des Moines, Iowa. Melvin joined the U.S. Army in 1964 and served until 1967. He was a Vietnam Vet stationed at Cam Ranh Bay. He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing and craft making. On Aug. 9, 2008, he married Barbara Bartosh. Go Chiefs!
