Christopher Alan Ehlen, 61, of Belle Plaine, Iowa, passed away Nov. 28, 2022, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Chris was born May 19, 1961, in Cedar Rapids to Dick and Cindy (Grippen) Ehlen. Growing up in Belle Plaine, Chris graduated Belle Plaine High School, Class of 1979. Following school, he worked for Johnson Plumbing and Heating in Keystone, IA. In 1990, Chris partnered with his brother Andy in purchasing Ehlen Plumbing and Heating from their father. They operated their business together, until Chris retired in 2021.
Chris was married and separated three times, but despite being divorced he was always able to remain friends with Patty Kearns, Shari Teneyck and Karla Mumby.
When Chris was not working, he enjoyed listening to music (classic rock and blues), and fishing local farm ponds. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.
Chris is survived by his parents, Dick and Cindy Ehlen of Belle Plaine; brothers, Andy (Lori) Ehlen of Belle Plaine, Todd (Kelli) Ehlen of Blue Springs, Mo., Eric (Jill) Ehlen of Mt. Ayr; children, Josh (Leslie) Ehlen of Booneville, Cindy Ehlen of Brooklyn, Ashley Ehlen, Justa Goodwin, Tara Buckley, all of Belle Plaine, Alicia (Jason) Bream of North Liberty, Dylan Ehlen of Ames, Bryce Buckley of Ft. Collins, Colo., Eli Ehlen of Belle Plaine; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Caroline, Abigail, Keegan, Kennedy, Scarlett, Nash, Mason, Acen, Quentin, Hudson; and many more loving family and friends.
Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at the Belle Plaine County Club. Private family Burial will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservice.com.
