Car hits pedestrian in southeast Cedar Rapids

A Cedar Rapids man suffered a possible hip injury after being struck by a vehicle outside the True Value hardware store on Mount Vernon Road SE Tuesday morning.
The man, who police said was 64, was conscious prior to being taken to St. Luke's Hospital, officers said.
Officers responded around 10:30 a.m. to a report of a car-pedestrian crash in the 3500 block of Mount Vernon Road. The driver was a 19-year-old Cedar Rapids man, and the collision appeared to be a "pure accident," officials said.
