Gregory Reid Beebee, born November 18, 1945, passed peacefully on November 24, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Greg’s most cherished roles were being a son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He was always surrounded by women, having four sisters and four daughters. Greg was a devoted husband, married to his love, Connie (Bolton) Beebee, for 52 years. They have nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Son of Mildred Eileen (Brundige) and Ellis Arlon Beebee, Greg was raised on a farm in Beebeetown, Iowa. He was a proud member of the American Legion after serving in the radar division of the Navy during Vietnam. He continued his career in aviation through retirement. Greg moved to Nebraska in 1966, living there until 1994, before moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Greg taught those he loved many valuable lessons: to be hardworking, determined and to never give up on their dreams. Friends and family knew him as having a heart of gold.
Greg was a supportive father, fun grandpa, handyman, and coach. He told many jokes and made the best soups. He enjoyed playing golf in his spare time and meeting with friends at the Red Lion enjoying many “final” drinks. He passed along his love of sports to many, never giving up his love of Hawkeyes even while living in Cornhusker territory.
Greg will be remembered for many things - for his sense of humor, having the best jokes, his laughter and smile. His memory will live on through his stories about growing up on the Beebeetown farm and his time in the Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Kathi; great-grandson Jameson; and multiple close friends.
Greg is survived by his wife Connie, daughters Melinda (Asa) Triplette, Michelle (Adam) Ihde, Shelly (Dan) Suesz, Crystal (Nick) Scott; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters Claudia (Steve) Mefford, Becky (Jerry) Paar, Stacy Beebee, honorary sister Jane Corrin, and brother-in-law Jerry Laube.
