Carol Lou (Bahls) Barnhart, 80, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, at Bickford of Marion. Family will greet friends and family from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marion. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, conducted by Reverend Andrew Noble. Burial will take place at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Carol was born on Jan. 3, 1942, in Clayton, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Lucille (Hill) Bahls. She was a very hard worker, working as a lunch lady and custodian for the Marion Independent School District, retiring in 2001. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marion. Carol was proud to live in the same home for 52 years. She enjoyed casino trips, movies, going out to eat, dancing, and listening to old country music, especially Patsy Kline. Carol was most grateful for her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, and always made family holidays extra special. Carol will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carol is survived and lovingly remembered by her three children, Jeff Barnhart of Marion, Tammy (Dwight) Miller of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Greg (Shelly) Barnhart of Marion; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Erica) Barnhart, Brittany Barnhart, Kelsey (Justin) Bagby, Joel (Katie) Miller, Madison (Jon) Brotman, and Conner Barnhart; four great-grandchildren, Lillian, Lincoln, Carter, and Brooks; and six siblings, Cecil Bahls of Guttenberg, Iowa, Gary (Bev) Bahls of Guttenberg, Cheryl (Ken ) Ginther of Marion, Jeri (Julous) Barnhart of New Vienna, Iowa, Joyce (Tom) Niehaus of Byron, Ill., and David (Sheryl) Bahls of Guttenberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lucille Bahls; brother, Allen Bahls; grandson, Zachary Miller; and sister-in-law, Janice Bahls.
