Dorothy A. (Dorman) Marsh, 98, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 25, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral service: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born May 8, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Herbert Sr. and Lillian (Hansen) Dorman. She married the love of her life, Robert Marsh, in San Francisco, Calif., on April 22, 1945, at the Naval Center; their love and partnership was celebrated together for 72 years.
Dorothy retired from CRST. She was an avid roller skater as a teenager. The roller-skating rink is where she met Bob. She enjoyed her early years as PTA president of Taylor Elementary and Wilson Junior High schools. She spent many hours sewing for her daughters, as she was an excellent seamstress. She volunteered by cooking and entertaining the Wednesday night youth group at Asbury United Methodist Church where she was a lifetime member. The neighborhood swim and card group gave her much enjoyment. Travel was one of her greatest thrills. Her travels included Hawaii, Alaska and Mexico, as well as many other destinations. She was an avid Cubs fan and relished in their World Series win.
Dorothy was totally dedicated to her family. Those left to cherish her memory are: Beverly (Elwood) Moser of Marion, Iowa, Susan (Todd) McCaughey of Davenport, Iowa, and Kathryn Marsh, of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Amber (Russ) Wasendorf Jr., Rion (Shari) Schwarz, Sara (Tim) Holt, Avery (Chad) Norte, Rebecca (Ken) Caldwell, Robert Doucette, Dayna (Cory) Grantham, Sonya Hepker (Will) and Aaron Hepker; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Roman, Erik, Jagger, Audrey, Ellesyn, Rhianna, Brookelyn, Logan, MacKenzie, Emma and Cole; sister, Shirley Hooker; and brother, Harold (Joyce) Dorman
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 72 years, Robert; sisters, Clara Henry and Phyllis Rowe; brothers, Herbert Dorman Jr. and Soren “Eddie” Dorman; and great-grandson, Zac Wasendorf.
As Dorothy and Bob were inseparable in life, so will they be in death. Their ashes will be reunited and buried at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date, so that they can be “Together Forever.”
