Evelyn Maxine Durow, 97, of Robins, formerly of Center Point, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022, at Emery Place in Robins. In agreement with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Anchor Bible Church in Center Point, Iowa. A private committal will follow the service.
Evelyn was born on Aug. 21, 1925, in Walker,
Iowa, the daughter of Charles Lewis and Edith Rose (Mollenhaur) Kratzer. On July 31, 1945, Evelyn was united in marriage to Raymond Ivan Durow. To this union was born one son, William. In addition to being a housewife and mother, Evelyn worked at the Standard Appliance Company and Linn County administrative offices, retiring in 1991.
Evelyn was a member of Center Point United Methodist Church (now Anchor Bible Church), Center Point Historical Society and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed being an active participant in each of these organizations and supported their various endeavors.
Evelyn is survived and lovingly remembered by her niece, Jeanette (David) Dearborn of Grand Junction, Colo.; nephews, Ivan (Lyn) McBride of Toddville and Dan Kratzer of Center Point; as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews; and loyal friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Durow; son, William Durow; brother, Everett Kratzer; and sisters, Ethel McBride and Iva Kratzer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Anchor Bible Church in Center Point.
