IOWA CITY — Ready for holiday lights? Hospice Home of Johnson County will present its Holiday Lights at the Lake display again this year. A fundraiser for the organization, tours officially begin on Thanksgiving and run nightly through New Year’s Eve at West Overlook Campground at Coralville Lake.
New this year is “Memory Lane,” a colorful array of trees where people could make a donation in memory of a loved one.
The Bird House Hospice Home of Johnson County held a special “Evening of Remembrance” on Sunday for families who lost a loved one.
The picturesque setting of West Overlook Campground is transformed into a winter playland. During the milelong holiday light tour, you can watch as rodeo characters lasso polar bears. Delight at a giant poinsettia pot and forest. Watch as a "sporty" Santa partakes in water sports and campground activities while wilderness creatures frolic and play.
Proceeds from this event support the work of The Bird House Hospice Home of Johnson County.
Visitors can walk through the display on Wednesdays when no vehicles will be allowed or drive through it all other days. Admission for the Wednesday walk-through is $5. Admission other evenings for cars/vans/SUV is $10; large vans, $20; minibuses or small limos, $30; or chartered/school buses or large limos, $50.
