The Iowa State Patrol is investigating a fatal collision on Interstate 80 east of Iowa City.
The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. Thursday near the Atalissa exit, according to a preliminary report.
Officers say a vehicle driven by 58-year-old Shuying Guo of Iowa City lost control and started rolling. The vehicle crossed from the westbound lanes to the eastbound lanes. Guo left the car, then was hit and killed by an eastbound semi-trailer truck driven by Jack. E. Walker, 55, of Charleston, Ill. The semi came to rest in the median but did not tip over.
Reports indicate traffic was at a standstill for several hours while investigators were on the scene. The Iowa Department of Transportation's website indicated the lanes were clear around 5 a.m.
The State Patrol says it is still investigating the crash.
