Aletha Mae Fox, 66, from Toddville, died from a long-term illness Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Cremation services were provided through Iowa Cremation. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
Aletha was born Aug. 23, 1956, the daughter of Robert Lee Simmons and Joyce Ann Griffioen. Aletha gained an additional mother in 1960 when Robert married Marcella Ann Simmons. Aletha attended Kennedy High School and lived her entire life in the Cedar Rapids area. Aletha and Lonnie Noggle celebrated the birth of their daughter, Beth Ann. Later in life, Aletha married and shared her life with Lyle Fox in Toddville, until his death in 2016. Aletha enjoyed spending time with friends and family, fishing and being outdoors with her dogs. She was a free spirit and always willing to stand up for the things she believed in and the rights of others. Aletha was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Her final day was spent with family, friends and with her dog next to her. There was nothing more important to Aletha than her family and friends and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Aletha is survived by her daughter, Beth Ann Noggle of Dubuque, Iowa; brothers, Bill (Tracie) Simmons and John (Bev) O’Donnell; sisters, Marlys (Bob) Herring, Lyla Richards and Norma (Gary) Ford, all from Cedar Rapids/Marion, Iowa; granddaughter, Kaylee Noggle of Dubuque; and special friend Don Griffin of Cedar Rapids.
Aletha was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lyle Fox.
Memorial donations may be directed to Cedar Valley Humane Society or by planting a tree in Aletha’s honor. Online condolences and memories may be shared with the family at www.iowacremation.com.
