Claire was born Nov. 9, 1940, in Iowa, the daughter of Eugene and Alice (Stewart) Daubenmier. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School. Claire was united in marriage to Larry D. Sharp on April 30, 1960, at St. Patrick’s Church in Cedar Rapids. Claire had a servant’s heart and was deeply passionate in carrying out the Lord’s calling with a lifetime of volunteerism. She was actively involved and a bright, familiar face at St. Jude Catholic Church, serving as eucharistic minister, Grateful Grannies, funeral dinner assistant and was the initial co-founder of the St. Jude’s Sweet Corn Festival which started in 1975. She loved volunteering at Mercy Medical Center for over 48 years, as she always noted, “she was a Mercy girl.” She helped with Mercy Catherine’s Cupboard, Rider’s Club and was a consistent Red Cross Blood Donor. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, card games, Wordle and was an avid sports fan. Claire had a green thumb, loved plants and was a huge Elvis fan. She loved baking and playing with her grandchildren, who brought out the child in her. Claire was a pay it forward person.
