Dorothy Marie (Metzger) Edens of Iowa City and previously of Davenport, died peacefully on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at 90 years of age. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Dorothy was born on June 30, 1932, in Augusta, Ill., to Frederick H. Metzger and Mary E. Bielek. She was the owner and operator of Edens Automatics Company, Inc. in Davenport for over 50 years. She was a gifted seamstress and loved sewing, civil war history and classical music.
Survivors include her children, son Dr. Erik (Tracy) Edens, daughters Grace Lawrence, Jennifer Goeringer, Rosellen Edens and Heidi (Josh) Olander; she was Buba and Bubbie to grandchildren, Cabot, Michelle, Mary, Erika, Dorothy, Elizabeth, Erik Jr., Augusta, Grant and Olivia; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; her sister Darlene Lotspeich; and cousins Mary Tafel and Marty Harger.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her triplet daughters who died in infancy, Heidi, Holly and Heather; and her siblings Arlene Lund and Andrew Metzger.
Memorials in Dorothy’s name may be made to Atrium Village, P.O. Box 220, Hills, IA 52235. The family extends their sincere thanks to Atrium Village for the exceptional care they provided to their Mom.
