Sonja Joann Dunlap, 82, of Hiawatha passed away on Nov. 11, 2022, at UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2022, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Marion.
Sonja was born on July 2, 1940, in Decorah, Iowa, the daughter of Ole Kenneth and Margaret J. (Schnitzler) Faaberg. Sonja ran her own tax service and later did bookkeeping for a construction company. She loved to read. Sonja was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. She also enjoyed gardening and puzzles.
Survivors include two sons, Kevin Dunlap of Hiawatha and William Faaberg of Waterloo; grandchildren, Claire Kerr, Aaron Faaberg and Zoe Faaberg; sister, LaLonnie Landis of Westerville, Ohio; and niece, Ann Landis.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and brother, Kenneth Faaberg.
Flowers are welcome and may be delivered to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Marion on Nov. 18, 2022.
